Mother-Daughter Girls Trip Inspires Booming Bath And Body Line
Brooklyn Business Owners is highlighting Shaun Léon Bath & Body, an artisanal suite of natural beauty oils and bathing botanicals, sourced globally and handcrafted by Brooklyn natives.
Mixing family and business can sometimes be a recipe for disaster. But one Brooklyn-based mother-daughter duo has joined forces to hand-craft a fragrant bath and body line aimed at bringing “harmonious luxury to daily grooming rituals.”
It was on a vacation in Paris when Leona Hartley and her daughter, Shaunya, visited a perfumery and became inspired to research suppliers and come up with formulas for their own self-care brand.
Then, Shaun Léon Bath & Body, a combination of the mother-daughter duo’s names, launched in late 2018.
"I've created my own fragrances and beauty products for about a decade as a personal passion project,” said Shaunya, co-founder and CEO. “From concept to inception, launching our own line of natural ‘wellbeing’ products has been thrilling.” Shaunya has spent years as a celebrity fashion stylist and an on-air lifestyle expert, providing commentary for The Today Show, Good Day New York, Dr. Oz and BronxNet, among other national and local programs. Meanwhile, her mother Leona has spent much of her career working in corporate finance and dabbling in jewelry making.
"Feedback has been very good," Shaunya tells BBO. "We have a community of people who want to see us do well... we have had sales nationwide."
Prices range from $8-$48, with free shipping on orders over $75.
“Both my mother and I are very passionate about ethical beauty products, so everything in our shop is paraben and cruelty-free,” explains Shaunya. “We’re also native Brooklynites, so we wanted to make sure our products felt luxurious but were also affordable enough for everyone to enjoy.”
